Celo is building infrastructure and products for financial inclusion utilizing the power of blockchain technology. Our mission is to build a monetary system that creates the conditions for prosperity for all. The first application launching on our platform is a social payments and cash transfer app, aimed at developing markets.
Celo was founded in 2017 and is based in San Francisco and Berlin. It's team comprises of individuals from a variety of backgrounds including: MIT, Stanford, Apple, Twitter, Square, The World Bank, Morgan Stanley, and Facebook. Celo is backed by Andreessen Horowitz, Polychain, Reid Hoffman, Jack Dorsey among others.

Meet several members of the Celo team who are on a mission by invitation from the UN World Food Programme. For the past two weeks, the team has been doing user research in Nyarugusu refugee camp and throughout Dar es Salaam.Â
Asa Oines, who leads protocol engineering at Celo, and was previously an engineer at Google, will go through an in depth discussion on the Celo Protocol and Platform. There will be time for questions and discussion.
Following the talk there will be time to meet 3 other members of the team, ask questions, and meet other individuals interested in blockchain, cryptocurrency, and the future of mobile money.
